Job Description
The Assistant Camp Manager is responsible for supporting the Camp Manager in the daily operations of a bush camp environment. The role involves overseeing Food & Beverage standards, ensuring guest satisfaction through excellent hosting, and maintaining the camp's safety and hygiene protocols. This position requires a balance between providing guests with privacy and space while maintaining a warm, down-to-earth atmosphere.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Food & Beverage Management: Oversee and maintain F&B standards, including food quality and presentation.
Guest Experience: Deliver excellent guest experiences, welcoming and hosting visitors according to the camp's ethos and ensuring personal attention to specific special requests.
Operational Support: Assist the Camp Manager with the day-to-day running of the camp in its entirety, implementing policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Inventory & Procurement: Manage procurement, stores, and stock control, ensuring month-end stock takes are submitted accurately and on time.
Health & Safety: Ensure safety procedures are in place for guests both in the property and during activities, excursions, and transfers, as well as for staff and equipment.
Community & Maintenance: Maintain positive relationships with the local communities and neighbors, and assist in planning overall repairs and maintenance of the property.
Hygiene Standards: Ensure that the overall hygiene of the camp is maintained at a high level.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Management or a related field.
Experience: Over five years of hands-on experience working specifically in a bush camp environment.
Academic Background: KCSE mean grade of B+ and above.
Competencies: Strong Food & Beverage knowledge (quality and presentation), good hosting skills with a focus on guest satisfaction, and proven leadership and management abilities.
