Absa Bank Limited (Absa) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Barclays Africa Group Limited. Absa offers personal and business banking, credit cards, corporate and investment banking, wealth and investment management as well as bancassurance. As an Asset Based Finance (ABF) Lead Generator, your primary role is to drive sales performance and support the growth of ABF products.
Role Overview
The role involves identifying and meeting customer needs through selling Asset Based Finance and cross-selling other Absa Bank products and services. You will provide direct hands-on sales support, generate and convert quality leads, and ensure that all activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
Sales to Retail Customers (60%)
Deliver exceptional sales performance by identifying and meeting customer needs through selling Asset Based Finance and cross-selling other Absa Bank products.
Provide direct “hands on” sales support (quality lead generation and effective follow-up) to generate and convert quality Asset Based Finance leads into sales.
Participate in Asset Based Finance product campaigns by ensuring that the parameters are well explained to customers.
Agree, meet, and exceed targets for specific sales campaigns.
Maintain own sales performance statistics for management information usage.
Own and manage ABF products and channel sales targets to contribute towards direct sales objectives.
Refer to the ABF BDM when uncertain about product delivery or application processes and respond directly to the customer.
Complete account opening documentation together with customers and submit to Line Manager for review.
Complete financial analysis and statement reviews on customer accounts for both Retail and Business Banking customers. Where criteria are not met, advise customers and report denials to the Line Manager daily.
Contact customers when accounts are opened and provide branch contact information.
Customer Service (15%)
Own customer queries and complaints regarding Asset Based Finance and resolve them timely; escalate unresolved issues to the Line Manager.
Build relationships with internal service providers (ABF Operations, Sanctioners, and DSC) to ensure quick turnaround times.
Advise customers as soon as new loans are approved and encourage draw-downs.
Operational Rigour, Compliance and Controls (15%)
Ensure all activities and duties comply with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Absa Policies.
Ensure accuracy of every new account application, ABF loan document, and all other customer documents. You are personally accountable for the quality of submitted documentation.
Achieve operational excellence in procedures to ensure green audits.
Follow Retail end-to-end account opening ensuring new accounts are authorized and KYC compliant.
Comply with Health & Safety standards, security of premises, KYC, and anti-money laundering regulations.
Team Contribution and Personal Development (10%)
Share knowledge and experience with other Lead Generators in the team.
Provide cover for other Lead Generators during excessive workload or absence; deputize for the Line Manager when required.
Agree on annual performance objectives with the Sales Manager.
Pursue continued improvement through development programs and training.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, and Management Studies is required.
Qualification: Professional Certificate.
Skills in financial analysis and statement review.
Strong knowledge of KYC and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.
Ability to meet and exceed high-pressure sales targets.
