Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) is a state corporation established to regulate, develop, and promote scheduled crops value chains for increased economic growth. This is an entry-level grade for certificate holders within the electrical artisan cadre. An officer at this level works under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer to maintain and repair electrical systems within the authority's facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical issues to detect any defects in systems and components.
Inspection: Regularly inspect circuit breakers and other electrical components to ensure efficient and effective operation.
Maintenance: Conduct general electrical maintenance and update maintenance schedules to ensure system longevity.
Compliance: Label system components to comply with established safety standards.
Wiring: Undertake electrical wiring for lighting, intercoms, and other related electrical systems.
Installation: Install electrical apparatus, fixtures, and equipment for alarms and other specialized systems.
Component Installation: Install safety and distribution components including switches, resistors, and circuit-breaker panels.
Repair and Replacement: Replace old wiring and insulated cables, clean circuits, and repair or substitute damaged electrical units.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (D plus) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Certification: Government Trade Test Certificate Grade I in Electrical or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
Mandatory Compliance Requirements
Shortlisted candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 by providing:
Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
Clearance from Commission for University Education for degrees obtained outside Kenya.
