The role of the Anaesthetist at Nanyuki Hospital is crucial for delivering safe, effective, and compassionate perioperative care to patients undergoing various procedures (surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic). Responsibilities (What You Will Do)
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and develop appropriate anaesthesia plans for patients.
- Administer general, regional, and local anaesthesia safely and effectively.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and clinical status before, during, and after anaesthesia.
- Manage pain control and provide post-operative and critical care support as required.
- Respond promptly to anaesthetic complications and medical emergencies.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, and theatre staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Supervise and guide theatre staff during procedures, ensuring smooth collaboration of patient care.
- Ensure proper use, handling, and documentation of anaesthetic drugs and equipment.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records.
- Participate in continuous professional development, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
- Postgraduate qualification in Anaesthesia from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) with a valid practicing license.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as an Anaesthetist in a reputable medical institution.
- Strong clinical judgment, emergency response, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
