The AI Learning Specialist at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) will focus on building capacity and AI literacy across the organization, helping staff integrate generative AI tools into their daily work and learning experiences.
Major Responsibilities
Learning Program Design & Development
Establish the foundational baseline by designing a concise, high-impact foundational AI literacy experience accessible to all staff.
Build solutions that bring learning into the flow of work. Identify opportunities to embed generative AI into learning, enable staff to practice skills, explore role-specific use cases, coach, and contextualize AI skills in real work situations.
Source, curate, and create engaging, accessible learning experiences in multiple formats: facilitated live coaching and demonstration, self-paced eLearning courses, microlearning modules, video tutorials, job aids, quick reference guides, and interactive workshops.
Develop scenario-based learning activities that reflect real humanitarian work contexts and challenges.
Ensure all learning materials adhere to adult learning principles, are optimized for low-bandwidth environments where applicable, and are available in core IRC languages where needed.
Integrate principles of responsible AI use, data protection, and ethical considerations into all learning materials.
Promote awareness of AI risks, limitations, and appropriate use cases in humanitarian contexts.
Upskilling Delivery & Facilitation
Facilitate live virtual hands-on training sessions with generative AI tools and applications for real-time demonstration, experimentation, and feedback.
Provide coaching and support to staff at various skill levels, from AI beginners to advanced users.
Develop and deliver specialized training for specific use cases and staff types/profiles.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Needs Assessment
Partner closely with the AI Staff and Culture Task Force and other AI working groups to align learning initiatives with organizational AI strategy.
Gather feedback from learners and conduct regular needs assessments with staff across regions and departments to identify learning gaps, determine effectiveness, and establish priorities.
Collaborate with IT, Data, and other technical teams to stay current on AI tool implementations and changes, and where to integrate learning touchpoints into technology platforms.
Equip a cohort of "learner-teachers" across departments and managers with contextual AI skills, habits, and language.
Learning Analytics & Continuous Improvement
Track learning metrics including participation rates, completion rates, skill assessments, and learner satisfaction.
Analyze learning data to identify trends, measure impact, and demonstrate ROI of AI capacity building efforts.
Improve learning programs based on data insights and user feedback.
Document best practices and lessons learned for organizational knowledge management.
