Role Overview\n\nThe Accounting Manager is responsible for the accounting data produced and/or validated by the region, delegation, or department under their responsibility, in compliance with internal procedures. The position holder acts as a team leader for the region, delegation, or department under their responsibility and ensures the accuracy and completeness of the financial closing and reporting of accounts within their area of responsibility.\n\n### Accountabilities & Functional Responsibilities\n\n* Data Accuracy: Accountable for the quality and accuracy of the accounting data entry and reporting for the regions/delegations under their area of responsibility.\n* Team Leadership: Supervises a pool of accountants supporting several regions/delegations and manages the Performance Management & Development (PMD) activities for the team.\n* Communication: Ensures seamless and accurate communication flow between the accountants and the client regions/delegations.\n* Internal Controls: Contributes to designing and implementing an internal control system that guarantees reliable accounting data at any time.\n* Accounting Operations: Controls, validates, and posts the accounting entries in the accounting software; performs regular controls on cash and bank reconciliations.\n* Auditing & Compliance: Leads the maintenance of sound accounting documentation to meet external and internal audit requirements.\n* Financial Closing: Leads the annual and monthly closing activities and coordinates the reconciliation and consolidation of balance sheet accounts of Field delegations/sites.\n* Reporting: Coordinates the work around the monthly List of Accounts for Reconciliation and Confirmation (LARC) and controls the upload of validated vouchers to dedicated tools.\n* Payments: Validates and processes payments of invoices through online banking and monitors payment requests.\n* Support & Training: Coordinates support and training to the finance and non-finance teams in the delegations/sites under their area of responsibility.\n\n### Requirements\n\n* University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a similar field.\n* CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in good standing.\n* Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in an Accounting/Finance position.\n* Minimum 2-3 years’ experience leading or managing a team.\n* Sound knowledge and experience in ERP (JD Edwards).\n* Experience in an international organization or non-governmental organization is an asset.\n* Excellent command of written and spoken English (Knowledge of French, Spanish, or Arabic is an asset).\n* Experience in managing regional accounting.\n* Knowledge of internal control systems and best practices in financial accounting.\n* Ability to work independently and under pressure with high levels of complexity.\n\n### What We Offer\n\n* Diverse and humanitarian-minded workforce.\n* Opportunity to contribute to institutional efforts to protect and assist conflict victims worldwide.\n* Training opportunities.\n* Flexible work schedule.\n\n### Additional Information\n\n* Location: Nairobi, Kenya.\n* Type of Contract: 1-year Fixed term contract (renewable subject to Budget discussion and performance).\n* Type of Position: Open to Kenyan residents or individuals who possess the legal right to work in Kenya.\n\n### How to Apply\n\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online via the official ICRC career portal.
