Marriott International is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join their team in Nairobi. The successful candidate will be responsible for checking figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes. This role involves organizing, securing, and maintaining all files, records, and cash equivalents in accordance with company policies and procedures. You will also record, store, access, and analyze computerized financial information while maintaining accurate electronic spreadsheets.
Responsibilities
Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records using journals, ledgers, and computers.
Prepare, maintain, and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, auditing, or payroll reports and tables.
Complete period-end closing procedures and reports as specified.
Prepare, review, reconcile, and issue bills, invoices, and account statements according to company procedures.
Follow all company policies and procedures, ensuring uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets, including the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.
Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.
Speak with others using clear and professional language; prepare and review written documents accurately and completely; answer telephones and emails using appropriate etiquette.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support the team to reach common goals.
Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Industry Experience: Experience in a hotel or luxury service environment (4- or 5-Star hotel) is highly desirable.
Certification: CPA certification is required.
Preferred Skills: Income Audit experience is an added advantage.
Soft Skills: Strong professional communication, teamwork, and attention to detail.
