Thika Technical Training Institute is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced individuals to fill the position of Accountant I (2 Posts) under Thika Technical Training Institute Board of Governors (BOG) terms. The successful candidates will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing statements, maintaining robust financial management systems, and ensuring proper documentation and accountability of funds in line with government financial regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Analysis: Analyzing accounting information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
Reporting: Preparing financial statements and other reports to summarize current and projected financial positions, ensuring the availability of funds to implement planned activities.
System Implementation: Developing and installing effective financial management systems and procedures for improving financial reporting and accounting in accordance with government financial policies and donor procedures.
Financial Ledger Coordination: Designing and coordinating the implementation and maintenance of financial information systems covering the general ledger, asset management, and revenue collection system.
Cash Management: Developing and implementing effective financial systems and procedures for improving banking and cash collection of funds, ensuring all funds are promptly banked and accounted for in accordance with prescribed regulations.
Transaction Oversight: Coordinating the preparation of payment vouchers, cheque books, cash book records, financial statements, and entries in accordance with accounting regulations.
Reconciliation: Coordinating the reconciliation of general ledger control accounts with supplementary records, bank transactions, statutory levy collection records, and asset registers.
Security and Storage: Controlling and accounting for assets, securities, and security documents, while ensuring their safe keeping. Overseeing the proper maintenance, storage, and security of financial and accounting documents so that they are properly filed, secured, and readily accessible.
