Accountant

Role Overview

The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and providing accurate financial reports to management.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing processes, including balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
• Reconcile accounts payable & receivable, manage petty cash, and ensure timely bank payments.
• Compute taxes, prepare tax returns, and ensure compliance with local tax regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and monitor expenditure against budgets.
• Audit financial transactions, maintain updated financial records, and support internal/external audit processes.
• Maintain database backups, internal controls, and reinforce confidentiality of financial data.
• Maintain ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Prepare customer invoices and monitor collections.
• Maintain up-to-date records of debtors and creditors.
• Resolve billing and payment discrepancies.
• Provide management with reports on expenses, revenues, and variances.
• Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
• Monitor financial risks and recommend corrective measures.
• Recommend improvements in financial systems and processes.
• Liaise with customers on invoicing and payment issues.
• Coordinate with suppliers on billing and reconciliation.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: BA/BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles.
